World of Warcraft to start offering microtransactions?

World of Warcraft which if you didnt know is a subscription based game where you pay each month to play it. However they now want to start offering microtransactions in a few countries.

A Blizzard Rep said that premium in-game items are being considered for World of Warcraft.

Community representative Jonathan Brown wrote on the possibility via Battle.net forums – specifically noting that only certain regions are being considered for the additions at this time.
“We are currently exploring the possibility of adding a way for players in certain regions to make purchases directly within the game. As part of this process, elements related to this will be appearing on the PTR. We’ll provide additional updates on our plans as development progresses.”

According to Polygon they noticed a experience-boosting spell was found on one of the games public test servers, which caused the topic to bubble up in the first place.

World of Warcraft (The MMO King) has been on a slippery slope in the past couple of years. Most recently it has lost a massive 1.3million subscribers during the first quarter of this year!

I personally have played WoW and think it is a very good game but I soon got bored when i hit the level cap.

Have you played WoW? Would you pay for in-game items? Let me know :)

See you next time :)
